Autumn 2026 - Season Update

22 Jan by AJ Murphy

Morning Phantoms,

Unfortunately Diamond Valley has lost the use of RMIT for the first five weeks of this season, however they've thankfully managed to secure an additional venue to support the competition.

Games will be played at Y Leisure City (YMCA) in Epping, a multi-court facility with three courts, including two courts with adjustable rings (down to 8ft). While we acknowledge the location may not be ideal for all clubs, this is the best available solution given current court constraints.

Why this works well:
- A 3-court venue allows efficient use of referee supervisors.
- Adjustable rings help spread U8 games and reduce late time slots.
- The courts are a rubberised surface, slightly firmer than DVSFC, but still of a good standard. The venue is approved for volleyball and handball, and courts are separated by netting as part of the multi-sport setup. Due to this, we will ensure the venue is used for U14s and below only.

YMCA facility benefits:
- Staff on site at all times (including first aid support)
- Fully operating canteen during games
- Well-maintained equipment and scoreboards on all courts
- Air-conditioned courts for player and spectator comfort

To ensure fairness, Diamond Valley will be rotating grades through the venue so the same teams are not allocated there each week.

A huge thank you to Matt and Pat at Diamond Valley, for ensuring our competition can go ahead as planned to kick off 2026!
